The Ibelin Initiative

The Ibelin Initiative is a community-driven movement dedicated to empowering disabled gamers in World of Warcraft Retail (North America) ("WoW NA").  We connect disabled players with a welcoming, inclusive community of teammates, mentors, and friends, to ensure that everyone can fully enjoy the game.

Two-Way Support
System

With AbleGamers, a non-profit organization as our collaborating partner, we are creating a two- way support system:

  • Helping disabled players find supportive and inclusive groups to play with in WoW (NA); and

  • Referring players who need accessibility assistance to AbleGamers, so they get the right tools and support to enjoy WoW.

Why the name
"Ibelin"

It is a tribute to Mats "Ibelin" Steen, a WoW player with Duchenne muscular dystrophy who proved that gaming is not just an entertainment, but a space for belonging and connection.

Mats passed away in 2014 at the age of 25. In honor of Mats, the Ibelin Initiative carries forward that same spirit ensuring that disabled gamers have the opportunity to thrive in an inclusive and welcoming
community.

The Ibelin Initiative: A Thriving Community Beyond Guilds

The Ibelin Initiative is not a guild—it’s a community-driven movement designed to bring together disabled gamers, supportive players, and allies. Our mission is to create an inclusive, welcoming space where everyone can enjoy World of Warcraft at their own pace, regardless of their faction, server, or current guild affiliation, if any.

While we do have a coordinating guild within the game, it serves as an optional hub for organizing events, building friendships, and collaborating with others. However, you do not need to be in our guild to be part of the Ibelin Initiative (though, you're welcome to if you'd like!).

Our community extends far beyond a single guild, bringing together disabled players from all factions, servers, and guilds across WoW NA. Simply join our Discord server to participate in activities and become part of something bigger - an inclusive and empowering WoW community for all players with disabilities.

Your Adventure Awaits

At The Ibelin Initiative, we believe that disability should never be a barrier to adventure, progress, or friendship.

Whether you play Horde or Alliance

Your faction doesn’t matter here. What matters is the bonds we forge in Azeroth.

No matter your class or spec

Whether you’re a mighty tank, a masterful healer, or a damage-dealing hero, there is always a place for you in all our social and gaming activities, including in our raids, dungeons, delves, arenas and battlegrounds.

Whether you’re new or experienced

Whether you’re stepping into Azeroth for the first time, returning after a break, or a seasoned veteran, we welcome you with open arms.

Whether you play casually or competitively

You don’t need high parses or Mythic+ scores to be valued here. We believe in playing for fun, growth, and community.

Whether you're in a guild or not

You can always join us regardless if you are in a guild, or if you are not! If you are looking for a community that values you, we're here.

No matter what WoW NA server you play on

You are welcome regardless of your home server. We will find ways to connect and play together!
